This fall, we’ve teamed up with Ben the Rooster and Atlanta’s High Museum of Art to help students practice their friendly letters and show their great artwork to the world! The installation is on December 5 and we’ll have a special event on December 10th, which is the day of the free second Sunday at the HIGH. We’ll have our Tree Elves & some treats for everyone too.
Ben has a free classroom activity for a language arts unit in your classroom. He’ll write a postcard to your class about the upcoming holiday season and, most of all, his excitement to send his annual holiday card. Then, he’ll ask his new friends to reply with a holiday design on their very own postcard. Ben will provide the materials for the replies – postcards, envelopes, and postage.
2) From December 5, 2017 through January 7, 2018, designs from Ben’s pals will be on display at the High Museum as part of an installation with King of Pops called Pop Art. Kids will have the opportunity to visit the museum and see their famous work!
3) In addition, parents will be able to purchase their child’s design on holiday cards from Ben’s Paper Shop. Each class will have a page with the students’ work (like this one), and 50% of profits from sales will stay with the child’s classroom. With these credits, teachers can purchase other experiences and letter writing activities for students.
To participate, just add this activity to your cart. It’s free, so although you’ll go through the checkout process, you WILL NOT be asked for payment before submitting the order. Please include your school’s address as the shipping address, and we’ll send the activity to your classroom.
